Fracturix Demo
Fracturix
Roguelite Arkanoid-like Sidescroller
Break glass bricks to explore a continuous, procedurally-generated world. Juggle multiple balls at once, or capture them back with a magnet powerup. Aim precisely where you want, or just shoot guns akimbo straight from your paddle. Balls can shoot, too, with the right powerup! Grow your balls to absurd sizes to smash half the screen in one hit, or unlock bombs to clean the level up. Or, why not both?
Roguelite
As you play, unlock tons of upgrades that improve starting conditions, increase the spawn rate and potency of powerups, or even regenerate your balls. Freely combine these upgrades to suit your play style, or experiment with crazy combos.
Couch co-op
Play with your friend on the same computer — it’s always more fun together! Use the arrow keys for the second player, or rebind them in settings. Works only on desktop.
Controls
Desktop:
- Move mouse: move paddle up/down
- Hold left mouse button and move mouse: aim
- Release mouse button: launch ball
- Escape: pause
Alternatively, you can choose rebindable keyboard controls in settings.
Mobile:
- Drag in the left side of the screen: move paddle up/down
- Drag in the right side of the screen: aim
- Lift finger when aiming: launch ball
You can control paddle and aim at the same time with two fingers.
Please play in landscape orientation :)
Demo
Fracturix is a free demo — with tons of ideas how to expand it into a full game, but I want to get feedback from you first. Let me know if you like it! Did you beat it? What’s your highest XP score?
Combo and XP
The combo multiplier increases with the number of balls in play. Earn bonus XP for breaking bricks during higher combos!

I'm getting further and further. ;)
I only got 19 fps
Reboot the laptop
it's 60 now
mouse controle is super!
Nice! Paddle doesn't shake anymore?
nope
This is much better.
Only with full screen the paddle shakes enormously.
Same as with mobile.
Do you use an extra sprite to slow down the movement?
Then you have to put the Y in a condition, e.g. If Y>=5 and Y<=-5.
Sprite 1 goto sprit 2
Then your paddle remains stationary.
Thanks! I added an option to use keyboard
Nice, you also have a horizontal scrolling breakout just like me.
Nice levels and good powerups.
The controls suffer from some lag, or is that the intention? In the video it seems to be faster.
Do you also make bricks with more lives?
Dude, this is so cool!
It's really heartwarming to meet fellow designer of a arkanoid-like sidescroller! Just played your game, it feels nice. I wanted to implement mouse control long time ago but postponed it for too long, doing it now ;)
Definitely not. It was laggy in fullscreen because I went too far with decorative background shaders. Patched this just now. It should run now as fast as the monitor allows.
Yes, in my game brick HP is proportional to its size and also every color has its own base HP.
How did you come up with the sidescroller idea? I recently learned that's not obvious choice :) For me, it mostly was because of one of my childhood memories, when I saw an older boy playing a sideways breakout in my school on a computer I didn't have access to. It looked incredibly cool! Now I can't even find out what that computer was, and can't find the original game either. But I kinda wanted to play it since then
I have the same problem as you. haha
I used to play a vertically scrolling breakout on the Amiga, I think, and I still have the melody in my head but I don't know what it's called. I would like to play it again with Retroarch but never found it . So I made something like that myself, but horizontally ;)
I found Act Out 1987?
Yeah, maybe this one
I noticed your game launches balls automatically. What do you think about mouse gesture based launch in Fracturix?
I'm on holiday now. ;)
I played on mobile now and the paddle is shaking, the aiming is a good idea, I like it.
You have a kind of maze levels so aiming in a gab is handy.
I will try on pc.
I love the aesthetics!
Thanks! As a non-artist solo developer, it was a tough choice for me to not go the pixel art path as everyone do, but I'm glad how it turned out :)
I'm grateful to have grown up when I did. This game was actually the first one I ever played at my aunt's house. The concept is fascinating, though I still need to get the hang of the controllers. By the way, are there any plans to add game pad support in the future?
Yes, controller support is in the plans.
BTW, what's your FPS when you're playing? One of the limitations of the in-browser play is that it might be a little laggy in full screen. It's easier to play when FPS is high.
I didn't play in fullscreen mode, so I didn't notice any lag. As for the FPS, I'm not sure as I didn't check, to be honest
Try it now, I added mouse/trackpad support. This way the controls are much better!
